Eye Exams

Yesterday was the big day. Jada had her eye exam for the first time. She did so good. I guess it helped that I got contacts at the beginning of this summer, and she came to all those appointments and watched them check my eyes, over and over again. She sat so good and told him all of the things that she saw. Even got to wear those magic glasses that makes things pop out at you. Eric did great on his exam. He has 15/20 or 20/15, which ever way it goes. So that means his eyes are better than 20/20. So proud of him. Hope he keeps these good eyes and doesnt have to get glasses like his mom and dad. Sara is with her grandma and grandpa welk this week so she has a rescheduled appointment for when she gets back.

After seeing the eye doc. it was sure nice to spend some time visiting with Colleen and her kids, William and Elan. They are so great. Oh and we went to McD's for lunch. Yummy!

Quiet weeks

Last Sunday, after our weekend in Cabri, Eric went home with my Mom & Bill for the week. It was an extremely quiet week without him. Fortunelty, Sara and Jada had time to bond. I went to Assiniboia this past weekend to pick him up. But alas, I come home with one less child again. Now Sara is staying in Assiniboia for the week. So off to Assiniboia next weekend as well. Jada is looking forward to that. She was so sad to leave Sara there.

Well, Jada is crying because I had to take a highlighter away.....post more later.

70th Birthday

Grandma Mary blowing out her birthday candles. Eating the yummy cupcakes or should I say just the icing.
The floating dock that you could swim out too. and yes I did swim out there with Sara. The water is very beautiful out there.
Jada driving the boat with Uncle Randy.
Eric, Sara, & Jada doing sparklers.
And I am down one child this week. Eric went home with Grandma & Grandpa Welk to the farm, and we will go pick him up on the weekend. So Grandpa has him working on the farm with him. Hopefully he's being a big help.

Here is my brother (the peg leg). He has an artifical leg, but because his leg has been so swollen for over a month, he hasnt been able to wear his prosthesis. SO he made a post out of wood so that he would walk without a limp. So now he seriously fits his nickname, Woody. Here he is standing beside my Uncle Randy.
Uncle Rick was trying to buck Eric off of this wonderful climbing tree in our firepit site.

Sara, Jada and Grandma Welk sitting on the branch too.
For Grandma Mary's birthday we hung 70 bras in the trees. This is Brian and his girlfriend, Jill sitting under them. Also I made a basket of "70 sucks". The kids enjoyed these. My mom did have 70 pink piggies made but forgot them. They were so cute.

Tubing

This past weekend we went to Cabri Regional Park for the weekend. It was for my Grandma's 70th Birthday (pictures to follow in another post), so my whole family on my mom's side was there (minus Uncle Ross & Auntie Sharon). It was great to see all my cousins and aunts and uncles again. It had been way too long since seeing them all. SO. Uncle Randy had his boat out and he was so kind to pull us all around the lake over and over again.

Eric and Sara both tried waterskiing. They almost got up, but they also where trying on adult ski's, so if they would've had kids ones I am sure they would've gotten up. I wasnt on the boat for that ride, so no pic's. Boo for me. Casey actually was waterskiing first and convinced the kids to try also. Eric and Sara also went tubing for the first time. They were so brave. Though Jada cried the whole time Eric, Sara and Casey where out on the tube. It was so funny. She was scared FOR them. Sara
Casey
Eric

I also tried tubing for the first time EVER. I went in a two person tube, with Lynn (my cousin Christopher's girlfriend) , it was so nice to have someone to scream with. I would definetly do it again. (I would take out my contacts next time though)

Girls afternoon out!

Well lookey here. The girls went out for some fun time today. We got our toes painted. They are wonderful. Now, Jada doesnt talk to anyone if they ask her a question, but today when Bobby asked her what color she wanted her toes, she clear as day said "purple". She was so excited to be a big girl like Sara and I and have her toes painted. They are purple with a pink flower. She's already smudged them. But they are still cute, and she still LOVES them. She went over to Grandma Harvey's and said "see my pretty toes". Sara got brown, blue, orange with a pink flower. I think they are so funky. Maybe I will get something like this next time.
And I got fish in the sea! I hope my girls enjoyed it as much as I did.

Where's the kitty?

Yup we found her all curled up in the bathroom. Lily fit perfectly inside Jada's potty seat. Eew and cute all at the same time.

She also is STILL drinking from Rhyme. The vet told me that by 6 weeks, Rhyme would have no patience left to lay around and let her drink. Well they are proving her wrong. She is now 8 weeks old, and Rhyme lays long enough for Lily to drink from EVERY nipple. Rhyme is even calling her to come and drink. Ahhhh! How do I get this to stop? Feel free to tell me!

can I hear a SMASH!!!

Surprise, surprise, we were at the lake again on the weekend. The weekend before we had found all the glitches in the trailer, so Casey's goal for this weekend was to get them all fixed. New fridge, check. Add boards for the table bed to lay onto properly, check. Glue the window in the door, check. Bring new battery, check. Glue the window slider onto the large side window, check and a SMASH!!! Yup, he was tapping the slider on with a HAMMER and sure enough on the last tap it broke. So poly & ducktape on large side window, check. Jada having a really juicey, yummy watermelon.

It did turn out to be a great weekend. Saturday, Eric and Sara spent the whole day up in a sand hill right behind where we stay. It is so awesome sand. Best sand I have seen in a while. So from 11am till 7pm them where in the sand. My Uncle Ron was hauling some of that same sand down to his lot so Jada played in his "sandbox" during the day while her made several trips. It was great. Eric and Sara, with their own money, bought 120 sparklers from the dollarama. So saturday evening at the fire they each light up some sparklers. Timeless fun they are. I remember doing sparklers when I was a kid. Hopefully it is a memory they hold dear just like I do.

Mini Golf

We took the kids mini golfing last week. They had a blast. It was Jada's first time going and she was so funny. She tried so hard to make that ball go towards the little hole. But sometimes she would get impatient and just pick it up and put it in. Or she would ask me to help her. It was too cute. Eric and Sara flew around the course totally in competition. I think I remember hearing a few hole in ones.

Gull Lake's course is so great. It only cost the kids $1 each to go. Thanks to the Kinette's for keeping it open.

Flowers

Early this summer, My Mom helped me create this pot for our deck. Well actually, my Mom started them in her greenhouse, told me which ones to put in and where to put them, so really my Mom did a great job in creating this beautiful pot for me. Thanks MOM!!!!

WOOHOOO!!!!

Okay, swimming lessons went great today. Sara was doing great on her diving. Her form is so better than mine ever was or ever will be. She's such a fish. Eric's class started out treading water for a minute, and that's all I got to see since Jada's lessons start right after Eric's. He's the one far away.Jada went in with her class today. I did start out in the pool with her, but she totally unlatched herself from my leg and was playing with the other kids. So by the end of her lesson, I was standing out watching from a distance. YIPEE for Jada! Her reward was a ring pop, so she knew she had to stay with swimming lessons to get it.

as a side note: last night Sara put a tatoo on my back. Today at the swimming pool, someone came up to me and said "oh nice tatoo, when did you get it" It is so a fake, but I really do want to get a tatoo, just a bit chicken still.

Slip N Slide

At the lake last weekend, my Aunti Barb & Uncle Ron and their grandkids where out and they brought out the slip n slide. They had so much fun. I didnt get any pictures of Eric, which is not like me.
We also took out the neighbours paddle boat with all the kids. That was a bonus. We must have gone out 5 times. Boy what a work out on the legs. We also celebrated my Dad's birthday. It was nice to get together with some family.

Yard Work

Last week, Casey had the kids working in the yard with him. He had them do some painting, like this bench that sits outside. I think it needs some cushions to make it more comfy though. They also painted a mini picnic table that we use at our fire here AND they painted the legs on Casey's creation. He built this "lean to" at the back of our shed to hold our firewood under, in hopes that it doesnt get so wet every time it rains. He even shingled it. Sorry its not such a great picture.
They also have been busy picking strawberries from our garden. This last week we have gotten two blue containers about half full. LOTS. And they are so yummy. I had them on my Special K this morning.

Lily & Jada

Lily is going to be Jada's best friend this summer, whether she likes it or not. Lily has been doing wonderful with Jada's mauling, and even has fallen asleep with her a few times. (When Jada has been able to sit still more than 30 seconds)
Can you tell that Jada is not really sleeping? With her grinning and all!!!

kittens down to 1

Last night we took the last two kittens out the Adam & Cathy's farm and so hopefully our house will slowly defuzz from them and Casey can come off his alergy med's. Oh and Rhyme is so engorged, I feel so sorry for her. I am keeping Lily off of her, and she is just so uncomfortable. I know some of you can sympathize with her.

Oh and we took Eric, Sara and Kate out for Miso (a Japanese restaurant) last night and I am happy to say they all ate until they were STUFFED!!! Eric's favorite was the crunch rolls, so now we have to double order those. Sara's favorite was Tempura. So great we can now take them without freakin out.

swimming lessons day 2

Well, Jada's swimming lessons went better today. We sang the songs all day yesterday especially "Ring around the hotdog" it was her favorite. So today I tried to stand back and out of sight more, which helped. But the biggest help was that Aunti Cathy went in the water and wadded in there with Lexi, so Jada just hung near her which was so great. Plus, if she did some swimming lessons I had along a princess granola bar for after, which totally got her inthe pool. Hopefully tomorrow is even better.

Swimming Lessons

Well, today was the first day of swimming lessons. It is quit a cooler day and the wind is blowing, so no doubt my kids froze when they got out of the water. Eric and Sara both are fish and love the water so they had a lot of fun. Jada on the other hand, needs some work. She spent most of her time standing in the corner crying, partially because she was cold. So I guess the next two weeks will be a struggle for her and me. I will not let her pull out and just not go, she needs to learn to obey the instructors and learn these vital skills. I may be a hard nose, but in the end it will be good. (or so I tell myself :o)) Hopefully it will be warmer tomorrow.

New Hair Cut

Here is some before shots. Oh how I hate taking pictures of myself. I think I always look funny in them, buy this is me. First one when I leave my hair curly, and the second when I would straighten it. Now some after pictures. It is so darn cute in my opinion. And also a side/back view.

Now these appointments for a color, highlight, and cut take 2.5 hours and I had to take all three kids with me, and I am proud to say that they did awesome. Portable DVD players are so handy. So, I love my new hair cut. But the real test will come when I wash it and try to do it myself. I'll keep you posted with how that goes.
